Yoga for the Front Lines of Medicine
We offer three programs to support your clinical practice. There are three ways to participate in our program:
Professional Yoga Therapist Certification
The Professional Yoga Therapy Certification is a post-graduate medical yoga certificate for licensed health care providers. It can be completed in as little as 6-12 months depending on learning style and time. Most practitioners choose to take 2 years to complete the program.
The hours required for completion vary based on experience and expertise but fall in the range of 600-900. Each course is immediately applicable however, which means you can begin using the information you learn right away, and within your scope of practice.
All health care professionals are invited to apply for admission into the program. We look forward to helping you meet your goals in pioneering the use of yoga as medicine in your field of expertise.

Recommendations to get started:
- We recommend taking a local university/community college course in anatomy and physiology to help make the learning process easier in the PYTA program. You will be learning side-by-side with medical professionals and the teaching will be at a medical post-graduate level. We find that a strong background in anatomy and physiology can go a long way in helping students keep up in class.
- We strongly recommend that you use your PYTA credential while working with a PYT Certified health care professional.
- We recommend that you volunteer in your area of interest (physical therapy, nursing, occupational therapy, etc.), which can also increase your job prospects after you graduate and help you establish relationships in your healthcare field of choice.
- We recommend working under a PYT Certified professional to maximize use and application of Medical Therapeutic Yoga.
Once you apply and have been accepted into the PYTA program, you are ready to start taking the distance courses. Your initial goal would be to have Modules 1-7 completed by the time you attend the first on-site course, Module 8.
