Dr. Ginger Garner DPT, ATC, LAT, PYT

Ginger is a University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill trained doctor of physical therapy (DPT), as well as a licensed athletic trainer (LAT, ATC) and professional yoga therapist (PYT). She has extensive training in orthopaedics, manual therapy, yoga and yoga therapy, & mindfulness, including Pilates and other Lifestyle Medicine practices. Ginger has spent 25 years studying and creating “best fit” yoga and other mind-body practices in and outside of healthcare. She is the founder of Professional Yoga Therapy Institute®, co-director of Living Well Yoga in Healthcare YTT, and author of multiple specialty CE’s programs, including the Professional Yoga Therapist certification for healthcare providers. Dr. Allison Marsden, DPT, OCS, PYT
Faculty, Yoga as Medicine I, II (M8)
Allison is a 1996 graduate of The Ohio University School of Physical Therapy and board certified in orthopedic physical therapy. She has spent 14 years working in outpatient orthopedics treating patients with persistent and complex pain. Prior to joining the faculty Allison completed the training and TA Program at PYTI®, where she says that prior to her training she felt like there was something missing in her clinical practice. Although she had completed her OCS, pelvic health training, and her doctorate, she felt like she needed the integrative medicine approach. That is when she found Dr. Ginger Garner and PYTI®. It’s focus on integrative and functional medicine (aka lifestyle medicine) was exactly what she was looking for. Dr. Marsden credits yoga as transforming her life personally and professionally, and she looks forward to sharing her knowledge with the healthcare provers. Dr. Marsden maintains a private practice in Ohio and lives with her husband and two children.
Jessica Hartmann PT, PYT
Faculty, Yoga as Medicine III (M15)
Jessica graduated from the Physical Therapy program at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA. She began her PT career with a focus on Osteopathic Manual Therapy and she is now the owner and operator of Integrative Rehab and Wellness, Inc. Jessica is grateful to have the opportunity to combine Medical Therapeutic Yoga with manual therapy. She specializes in treating back and neck pain, sacroiliac joint dysfunction, sciatica, musculoskeletal issues, chronic pain, fibromyalgia, migraines/headaches, anxiety, arthritis, and TMJ. Jessica is the co-director of Living Well Yoga in Healthcare Yoga Teacher Training Program, along with PYTI® Founder, Ginger Garner. She is adjunct faculty at the University of North Carolina Wilmington in the School of Health and Applied Human Sciences. Jessica also teaches at several YTT’s in the eastern USA. Matthew Remski is a yoga teacher, industry consultant, and author of nine previous books, including threads of yoga: a remix of patanjali’s sutras, with commentary and reverie. As the survivor of two cults, his work has been pivotal in illuminating the shadows of globalized yoga and Buddhism, and showing that disillusionment and critical inquiry can be gateways to mature spirituality. He facilitates modules in philosophy, history, cultureand community health in yoga teacher training programmes internationally. He lives in Toronto with his partner and their two children.

Jeff is the resident fixer of all things, performing magic in the office and from far away. He juggles the money and answers all pony and cupcake-related questions. His alter-ego is a Virginia Tech grad, caver and member of the VT Cave Club, Elvis Grotto extraordinaire, and an Aerospace Engineer on Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point in Havelock, NC. If necessity is the mother of invention, Jeff is the father.
In his spare time, Jeff enjoys brewing beer and kombucha at home, creating amazing home improvements, and sending flowers to Ginger. Jeff lives in Greensboro, NC with his wife, Ginger, their three sons, and rescue pup, Scout.
JessieAnne has spent most of her life in the small coastal North Carolina town of Emerald Isle, practicing yoga and mindfulness alongside the Atlantic Ocean. She has been working with Dr. Garner and the PYTI® team since 2018. She looks forward to continuing to grow and learn with the program. Her previous experience includes holding the position of Chair of the Executive Board for the local chapter of the Surfrider Foundation and managing Dr. Garner’s State Senate campaign. JessieAnne particularly values working with a company whose culture empowers women and focuses on nurturing a society and healthcare focus that provides trauma-informed, holistic, well-rounded care. She looks forward to bringing the culture of PYTI® along with her as she finishes her degree in philosophy and political science in order to pursue a career in Civil Rights Law in the future. JessieAnne lives in Emerald Isle with her rescue pup Tango, they both enjoy spending time in and protecting our environment — from the beach to the mountains and everything in between. They always make sure to save time to try out local craft brews from time to time.
