Our focus at PYTI® is to prepare today’s licensed healthcare provider with a best evidence approach to patient care. We teach Lifestyle Medicine through a yogic lens, which also includes the practice of evidence-based Functional & Integrative Medicine. This means you will learn the latest evidence on using nutrition, sleep and pain science, stress management, behavioral change and lifestyle coaching, as well as specific interventions to affect change based on the health of the gut microbiome & the influence of epigenetics and genetics. Together these elements thoroughly prepare the clinician to speak a biopsychosocial language that will improve patient satisfaction and outcomes and lower clinic overhead and clinician burnout.
The PYTI® program is the premier interdisciplinary, post-graduate certification that prepares the clinician to use:
- Lifestyle Medicine
- Integrative Medicine
- Functional Medicine
- Complementary Medicine
- Biopsychosocial Yogic Model of Care integrated with Biomedical Care
The program was started by Dr. Ginger Garner in 2000 as a result of her work with patients in chronic pain. She saw that yoga offered superior outcomes when it was combined with elements of rehabilitation and biomedical care, so she started writing and teaching coursework on Yoga in Healthcare, which became the Professional Yoga Therapy Institute® (PYTI).
